Ulasan2-Clock Rates and Processor Performance
Ulasan ini diambil dari video youtube yang berjudul Clock Rates and Processor Performance dan berdurasi 6 menit dan 35 detik. Video ini dibuat oleh akun youtube yang bernama Icc0612 pada tanggal 21 Oktober 2014 dan dapat diakses melalui URL ini https://youtu.be/MyXAjSTwEQM
Video ini membahas tentang apa hubungan clock rates dengan prosesor dimana banyak orang terkecoh dengan hanya melihat bahwa clock rates yang tertera pada deskripsi lebih tinggi dari prosesor yang lain. Namun ternyata clock rates yang tertera tidak sepenuhnya menyatakan kecepatan dari device yang digunakan melainkan hanya sebagian. Meskipun memang clock rates yang semakin tinggi juga menyatakan device yang digunakan lebih cepat.
Video ini juga menjelaskan bahwa adanya CPI(Cycles per instruction) dimana untuk mendapatkan berapa kecepatan asli suatu CPU, yaitu dengan clock rates dibagi dengan CPI komputer tersebut. CPI ini didapatkan dari performa perangkat-perangkat lain, jadi meskipun clock rates tinggi namun CPInya juga besar maka kecepetan asli dari CPU tidak secepat yang kita bayangkan. Perangkat-perangkat yang sangat mempengaruhi CPI ini biasanya berasal dari RAM dan harddisk.
Menurut saya video ini sudah cukup menjelaskan mengapa kita tidak dapat hanya terpaku pada kecepatan suatu device dari clock rates yang lebih tinggi saja.
